Slowing down your speech
A client who is Vietnamese speaking and lectures at a University in Sydney said that she has had success in slowing down her speech by restructuring her lectures, that is chunking them and doing exercises such as solving problems at the end of a chunk. This seems to stop her from getting 'overexcited' and therefore speaking so quickly that the students can't understand her. Her students said that she is easier to understand. (I'm going to take a little credit for that!!!)

Stress and intonation
Go to this great slideshare presentation. It give a good 'rap up' on stress and intonation. However they did get the stress wrong on a word. See if you can find it.

Use of Wikis to encourage practice.
I am now using Wikis to FORCE my students to practise. All the work is put on a wiki, that includes sound files as well as doc files. There is no longer any excuse not to practise.
